The hard work continues

Dear friends and Family

Hello from us Here in the beautiful Sierra Leone!!!

The weeks are flying past and there has been lots going on with Home Leone and us too, also we are due back in England 4 weeks’ tomorrow!

At the site in Newton where we are building it is really taking shape. The compound is closed in and we have the first stores ready for the container and all the tools inside. We have 2 dogs and 2 ducks for security and are working on how to mobilise the ducks into action, maybe sharpen their beaks or something. Anyhow, they live in the secure compound next to our water bore hole pumps and they need to start working for their dinner one way or the other.

There has been a competition recently to see what team could get the most bricks laid in a day so we split the teams into 2, consisting of 7 brickies and 7 labourers on each team and the team to win got a 10 000 bonus per man.
They did a fantastic day’s work and the quality of the work has not suffered, so we will do it again on Monday. Our guys can lay nicely now and we just need to pick up speed now and this incentive of a financial booster seems to do the job.
It is amazing what a little cash and a lot of positive rivalry will produce, total for the day was 1500 + bricks laid. We are now just about ready to put on all the lintels for all the doors and windows.

This weekend Sarah and I are away with the international church on a retreat, it is in a lovely spot next to where a river meets the sea and we have had worship together, teaching on Missionary life and decision making. Also a nice bit of rest for the troopers. There are brothers and sisters from all over the world but all have the heart of Jesus for people and we are really grateful to be here. It has taken us some time to realise that we need to concentrate on building some meaningful relationships in this country if we are going to last the distance here and keep well.

There are new people either visiting Home Leone or coming to work in the next month and we look forward to meeting them all and pushing forward in the goals of Home Leone.
We have had some meetings with potentially major sponsors/partners to help us achieve stage 1 of the build recently and trust God, that this is His project and He will help us get it done. Please do continue to pray for us folks!!

The mission is clear, the goals are set, we are building over 300 houses, 1 school, 1 health clinic and a vocational training centre to give a new home, job and life changing opportunity for the dearest of people, who have nothing of real material wealth but massive human potential and great value in Gods sight!!!

Check us out at www.homeleone.org and see if you want to get involved

All our Love

Joe and Sarah Boxall
