Repairs

Ok, the repairs were expensive, however, she’s worth it! A new clutch, flywheel, starter motor and batteries were needed to get Polka back to her best. The EDC fault that occurred in Germany was dirty fuel……. It had blocked up the fuel filters, so was a relatively easy fix. The mechanics were fabulous and have really given her a thorough going over. She’s ready to give us many years of service in Sierra Leone.
Now I have to get her somewhere near Tilbury docks. The shippers can’t take her until the 16th of December, so I’ve found a lorry park nearby to park her until then. I’ll make the call this morning to book her in and hopefully drive her down this evening.
I’ll be sad not to see her for a while, but I’ll be looking forward to welcoming her to Freetown at the other end of her long voyage.
Adrian and I are busy earning a few pounds for Xmas, and preparing to lock up my house for when I go. It’s all going along well. But I don’t think I’ll ever be 100% ready, so I’ll just do what I can and be happy with that.
Thank you for the positive comments you have left me about my blog….. At least I know someone’s reading it!
Bye for now. Ian
