What a joy to receive Sierra Leone’s Minister of Defence as he and many senior Army and Police leaders came to see our work. The country faces some challenges with having enough suitable accommodation for the soldiers and their families. The Minister had been to a number of countries to see who had some solutions for how to improve the barracks. After being inspired by his visit, we were invited to look around one of the army barracks with their engineers which Joe and I had the privilege to undertake.
You know there are so many shelter challenges of different types in this country. Affordability and quality of housing for government workers is as much a challenge for this sector as for those living in slums on the coast. We look forward to sharing our experience and seeing how we may be able to serve the nation in different ways.
