Malaria

9th August 2017 | Posted in Nigel's Blog

After over 30 years of working in the tropics, Malaria visited me last week.  The Southampton hospital tropical medical staff were wonderful and after finding I had the “good” malaria treated and cured my illness.  Now just a bit fatigued but doing well so many thanks for the prayers and good wishes sent, as Susan shared it on Facebook.

It reminds me again of the effect this sometimes fatal illness has on the slum dwellers of Sierra Leone.  Without the facilities we benefit from in the UK, many simply struggle and suffer and some die.  It galvanises me to redouble our efforts to  work with those like WHO and Geneva Global, teaching on Malaria and providing helpful drugs and mosquito nets as we look forward to moving people from places where mosquitos abound to a safer environment.
