Land Update

7th April 2015 | Posted in Nigel's Blog

This week, I need to send the remaining money to buy the 20 acres of land that enables us to take a huge step nearer our goal.  The total we need to complete payment is £79,000 so excluding any contingency I need to send just less than £46,000 to Sierra Leone.  This covers the land purchase, lawyers, surveyors, government tax and bank charges.  We have in our bank account £45,811!

As many of you will know, I am a Christian.  Before Christmas I was reminded of how in the bible, the Israelites were moving towards their promised land and God provided Manna for each day or just “today”.  He noted that anyone who took more to store for tomorrow, would find their saved manna had gone moldy.  Each day they had to rely on God for the provision that day.  We therefore have enough to buy the land and are “all in” so to speak.

You will appreciate that we cannot fulfil our vision without land so whilst this uses all our resources, we believe this is the right way forward.  Let us say the process to buy in Sierra Leone is not straight forward and the journey to get to a place where we can totally rely on the land title is a challenge.  However, with wonderful advice and friends, we believe we have a route to secure it by the end of April.

We are thankful to God and to each of you who has contributed to make this next vital step possible. Do let me know if you have any questions.
