Well the way we see the world dancing is to set off a chain reaction that will end with thousands of people having opportunities free from the slums, to have jobs, homes and live out their aspirations. Today is a significant day. The last week has been narrowing down this opportunity to buy 20 acres of land. Each day is a fresh challenge, the latest being we agreed 3 million Leones per town lot for 20 acres. There has always been 10 town lots in an acre until this week when the vendor put forward there was actually 11.6! You think you have an agreement and then bang its different. Thankfully we are now back on track on what we thought we had agreed – 600 million Leones for the land.
Unfortunately, Jesse Js approach to forget the price tag doesn’t work in Sierra Leone! So far we have seen £4,000 given towards the land cost, and we need £76,000 in total (with an additional £35k over the next 3 years). We thank God for the start and now its decision time. We cannot proceed without land so are putting out the first payment next week to get things going. We think we will own the land by mid April.
It seems the right thing to do so we have decided to go ahead. As many of you will know, I am a Christian and this is a faith venture that I believe can change a nation. We would welcome your thoughts and prayers.
