Leading Engineering Consultancy Arup, have sent a team to work with Home Leone this week. They are helping in a range of ways, particularly with the village topography, soils and drainage plans.
It is just wonderful having their support a part of their CSR and team development. Yesterday they visited one of the slums to gain insight as to what Home Leone is trying to do in offering a relocation solution to enable thousands to leave appalling conditions. The team saw how the rubbish dump above the slum washes huge volumes o waste in to homes and how Hawa’s home was destroyed by flooding.
The team helped replace some dangerous steps in Cobalt, home to 16,000 people. It is a small help but symbolic to the community as the wait for us us to build the new villages.
