Challenges near the top!

6th July 2016 | Posted in Nigel's Blog

Last week we had a great meeting with the head of the Office for National Security.  It was so encouraging.  They have a mandate to set up responses to disasters, such as the 2015 floods that left thousands homeless and then to clear dangerous slums.  Its a difficult task for them.

These leaders have been to our site and see our vision as a solution to help them in our work.  They asked me to come back and show the vice president around the site and present the work to the key country players.

As the motorcade pulled into our road, they suddenly turned round!  The police had the wrong information and took them somewhere else!  The presentation was cancelled and now a public holiday is declared so there can be no progress today. Nearly, but they tell me “he will come”

This is a bit disappointing as at their request I flew back specially for these meetings.  But then I stand back and consider.

In 2 years we have a tiny start up and build a few homes, developing a powerful strategy for community living away from the slums.  Whilst small, the leaders of a nation are interested and we believe, with your help, this can indeed help the poorest of this nation of Sierra Leone significantly.

I am often in a rush, yet with the rains we close down the site as its virtually impossible to build in these conditions.  I am thankful for the progress we have made and now have 3 months to seek the funds to continue.

Thank you for your love and encouragement.

Hi Nigel, thanks for the update.
We are willing for the Top People to respond favourably to this Mission.
You know all too well the way of things over there, please don’t be disheartened. Wonderful things have happened and many people’s lives are being affected for the better, in the fundamental essence of heaven! Tiz Love!
    Small steps – long journey.
Faithfully trusting that the Lord shall provide All that is needed.
    Blessings on all the workers.
Praying for protection by His guardian angels of the site whilst Joe & Sarah take their break and that any extreme weather misses those God has His hand on.
In the words of Jesus’ disciple and friend, John “Dear friend, I am praying that all is well with you and that your body is as healthy as I know your soul is”.
In the name of our precious Lord and Saviour – our love and massive respect.
    Laura & Mike
