A week to remember

25th June 2016 | Posted in Nigel's Blog

As Clive and Bob joined our in country team for the week, the mission to deliver a holistic low costing housing solution in Sierra Leone took giant steps forward.

This week, The Presidents chief of staff, the head of the office for National security, board members from the adventist health system and the Princes Foundation were among those to visit the site of our new village.  Those who come feedback 2 “i’s ” – impressive and inspiring.

Indeed we must pray tribute to an amazing staff and over 70 labourers who have set the site and nearly completed the first 8 of 344 houses.

We met a potential joint venture partner for the chicken farm and water factory. On funding we met with the Catholic Relief Service, YMCA, Freetown city council, UN-Habitat and UN Devt Programme.

We painted the King George VI seniors home and visited our partners Nehemiah Lifelines who’s vocational training students  have been learning on the job alongside our workers.

I then met the National Coordinator for the part of government responsible for addressing the flood disasters and finding slum solutions.  He is setting up a meeting for 5 July, when I will return to the country, and with our team, present our vision and work to the country’s most senior leaders.

It has been quite a week.  As we prepare to close the site for the rains, please pray with us for these meetings and that not only will funding come in, but that we can be of real service to nation facing some significant challenges.  Thank you.

Press on! The plan is committed to God’s will – helping the poor, homeless and destitute. May He direct you every step of the way. Pray, open the hearts, ears and coffers of those who should be involved and may peace and goodwill be established for All the workers and supporters of Home Leone. Bless you all!
