What a couple of weeks. Thank you so much to the 80 or so people who helped dismantle 2 schools and pack containers of school supplies to send to Sierra Leone.
We had our challenges. The 40ft container proved too heavy to lift so after taking out about 6 tonnes of supplies and loading to an additional 20ft container, it left with a whopping 27.3tonnes on Thursday. Today the small container was to be picked up, but was defeated by snow and ice, providing another £250 unexpected bill!
In context, the value of supplies including 120 doors, 400m sq of scaffolding and tin roof, chairs tables aircons, clothes windows and more it provides great value for money.
I cant thank those of you who helped enough. On the last day I was called to by mothers hospice and you rallied and packed the small container without me – what a blessing.
News coverage on TV and radio was helpful and we are planning for a group to join us in Sierra Leone around Easter so do get in touch if you would be interested in coming.
From the bottom of my heart – Thank you! a wonderful effort that will help thousands of children’s education in the years to come. We are all so grateful.
It was a pleasure to do so little to help but very satisfying to understand the immense help it will to be to so many. We hope everything arrived safely.
