Nigel’s Visit

Hiya all, I know it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged, I will break my messages home over several blogs so as not to bore you all. I’ll upload relevant pictures tomorrow so Rachel can add them where appropriate.
I had a great visit from the Commander and Chief but he drives pretty hard!! Meeting after meeting after meeting!!! However, we must move this project forward. So I understand. I didn’t blog that week as I felt I’d only duplicate Nigel’s blogs.
Some of our meetings seem to be producing some results and some seem to be dead ends….. But that’s the nature of it here. We did our best and knocked on as many doors as possible. It was great to spend some time with him, and it reaffirmed why I am so committed to this project. It wasn’t helpful that neither Polka or Frank was operational the week he was here, so we had to taxi it mostly….. I even got him walking!!! It’s the absolutely best way to meet the real people of Freetown by far….. You get hot and sweaty, but it’s amazing all the adventures and real experiences I’ve had, just by taking “shanks’s pony”!! Nigel showed me a lot of places that expatriates use, which I wouldn’t have known about if he hadn’t have shown me. They are good if you need a break from the “full on” cauldron of Freetown. I’m more of a people’s man though, so grabbing a bread roll with a boiled egg and mayonnaise off a man with this all on his head is more my style…… And it only costs 3000 leones!!!! Divide by 7410 if you want to know what that is! Anyway, I digress….. This blog was about Nigel’s visit! In short, a fab but exhausting week. I saw him to the Pelican crossing on his last day, he ensured I had plenty to do over the next few days before he left! God bless him!!! lol. Seriously though, I honestly believe his job is by far tougher than anything I am doing here, it would give me sleepless nights! Without him driving us along, none of this would be possible.
