Nigel Taylor, who attends the Trent Vineyard in Nottingham, has been in country for the last 7 weeks. A former baker, he has helped us find equipment and design a bakery, alongside our in country business manager and baker, Godwin Pessima.
We have built a business plan and with wonderful funding from Meal a Day, the bakery now has an office and all the benches laid out. The tiling starts this week and key equipment comes out the port today as we unload our latest container of donated supplies.
Bread is a one of the staple diets in Sierra Leone. We have the opportunity to innovate and train local people with the skills necessary to personally develop. We look forward to opening for business in the new year and is a key element in building sustainability in to our drive to enable people to exit slums.
