Corporate – Real CSR
When it comes to planning your company’s next team building event, take a moment to think outside the box – help a good cause by turning your training exercise into a Home Leone trip!
Your company could hold a fund raising dinner. It can be themed and include an auction to help raise money towards a project. We had great success with the IM group’s military themed dinner, in which they raised over £14,000!
Ideas
Some of your favourite fundraising ideas are the easiest ones to do! There are many ideas on the internet but ones we find the most effective include:
- Wear what you like day- This can work effectively in both schools and offices.
- Cake sale/coffee mornings- No one can resist a bit of cake so get baking!
- Sponsored events- Are you ready to take on a challenge?
- An Event and Auction (Dinner, disco etc) where it’s important to get the right people there. It is amazing how generous your community is, from signed sports shirts, hotel overnight stays to a golf 4 ball or use of someone’s villa in Spain. Auctioning these and promises to do things (e.g.4 hours of ironing) can raise a lot of money.
- Ask your company if they will match your fundraising efforts.
Other ideas you might also like
- Car boot sale/Ebay- There’s never been a better time for a clear out!
- Get a group together and pack bags at supermarkets
- Dinner party- Invite round friends for a delicious meal, charge entry or ask for a donation.
- Quiz night and raffle- Can be held in a pub or at church.
Fundraising tips
- Make it personal- People are more likely to donate if you make fundraising personal. Have you been to Sierra Leone? Show pictures of your experience. If not tell others why this cause is so important to you.
- Tell everyone- The more people you ask the better! Use your contacts. See if local papers will advertise your event.
- Keep people up to date- Make a Facebook or Twitter page for people to follow your progress. Write a blog or send out newsletter emails.
- Promote the cause- If people know what it is they are donating to and the difference their donation will make they are more likely to support you.
Fundraising FAQ’s
- Can I claim Gift Aid on the funds I have raised? To claim Gift Aid on your fundraising, we must have the first names, last name, full home address and postcode of each individual donor/sponsor. So please encourage them to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form when they sponsor you. Without these details we legally can’t claim Gift Aid – so be strict with your supporters!
- I have raised money for Home Leone, where can I send the money or cheque to? Thank you so much for raising money for Home Leone, we really appreciate your support! Please send a cheque made payable to ‘Home Leone Limited’ to: Home Leone, Park House, Botley Road, Bishops Waltham, Southampton, SO32 1DR.
