One key element of Home Leone’s strategy is to deliver clean water for the 2,000 people the village will house. This has largely been enabled by the Meal a Day Trust and this week, we were delighted to welcome Phil and Kate Lawrence, their trustees, to see the work so far.
We refurbished an old British water pumping station (that was in disrepair – see below) that holds 180,000 litres, built a bridge across the swamp and provided wash facilities for the community. We laid an 800m pipe and a solar pump, pumps the water to the top of the village where it will go to a filtration plant and we hope eventually hope to start a water bagging business.
We also had Jerry and Peter (pictured below) from Willamette visit. Through John, who lives locally, they have supplied the technical expertise and this week even agreed to lend us a tractor and trailer for 3 months!
When we bought the land we had no idea what a great provision the water supply would be and we are deeply grateful to God for his provision.
