On a plane and off to Freetown in Sierra Leone again. A week to see if we can find a way to stimulate the building of homes in a town where probably 250,000 new homes would not take everyone out of the shacks. I have a Mission Direct trustee, Terry, with me. He first came here 20 years ago and has a love and passion for the people here. Even before we get there, we meet a church leader, Chris and his friend Rob who are on their 3rd trip to Freetown and have brought 12 people from their church to support a local guy called Abs with his work in Freetown. Abs had polio from 5 and went to Leonard Cheshire school. The church team painted the dormitory we built in 2004 – small world!
On the plane and upgraded by British airways – doesn’t usually happen to me – perhaps their system tells them the 24 hour delay and lack of food and service the last time I flew meant I was a prime candidate for rehabilitation – I guess it sort of worked.
