I have been here over a month now, I have felt so overwhelmed with how welcoming, kind and lovely everyone has been to me. It has really helped me settle in so much. I am enjoying every single moment. There is such an inspiring level of joy and community here that I cannot wait to learn more from. The wonderful Moses Sesay has now joined us, he is going to be helping us with community development and our resettlement strategy. We are beginning work on the processes of engaging with slum communities and identifying specific communities that we might be resettling people from. We have a lot of research to do, questions to ask and relationships to build and I am really looking forward to getting started. The work on our site is really coming along. Last week we had our two wells installed, it was really exciting to see the most important and life giving element of the new community added. It is such a privilege to be here and help deliver this project.
It was during the rainy season last year that the transmission of Ebola was at its peak, with the rains now beginning, and with another 9 cases of Ebola confirmed last week the need for safe housing with proper waste, drainage and sanitation systems is more urgent than ever.
